Hip Hop Coloring Books & Gallery Show

Back in 2016, as a way of practicing inking and digital coloring, I decided that I would take on the challenge of drawing a different Hip Hop artist every day for an entire month. This turned out to be a lot of fun and I found that the portraits connected to a lot of people. A question that came up a lot when people would see the ink drawings was, “why don’t you make a coloring book of those?” I finally created the first Hip Hop Coloring book in the series and it took off runnin’ like a Busta Rhymes verse from there. Before I knew it, i had created 2 Hip Hop coloring books, a coloring book menu for Brewer’s Cafe's Wutang Sandwich week, and Ajay Brewer asked me to do a Hip Hop themed show at his new gallery, The Well Art Gallery. You never know where one little spark of inspiration will take you. I am certainly glad that I took the chance on the first coloring book and rolled with it.
