What Does A Princess Really Look Like?
A children’s book written by Mark Loewen with illustrations by Ed Pokoj
Like other recent books that fall into the “Princess” category of Children’s Literature, What Does A Princess Really Look Like breaks many old princess stereotypes. In this story, Chloe sets out to craft her very own princess. She quickly realizes that princesses are more than just frilly dresses and tiaras.
This is the final cover for the book.
This is the final character design for the main character, Chloe.
All of the art in the book started out as marker thumbnails like this one.
The next step was to draw out the line art in pencil.
The line art is darkened and the colors were done digitally in Adobe Photoshop, the text was added, and the page was complete.
Book readings have been a fun way to interact with the book's audience. {pic cred: Jen Brown}
Less than a year after the release of What Does A Princess Really Look Like? Mark and I created a coloring book to accompany it.
